My Story
Ty Lewis
I believe in channeling my creative urges in order to produce unique artwork. My inspiration for my work is my journey in youth advocacy. As a creative, I also feel called to redirect the narrative of the African-American male in America. Art by Ty Lewis is born out of a combination of my education, training and experience, which allows my perspective as an artist to remain traditional yet contemporary. As a poet, playwright and director, imagination is key; with an abstract approach. Art is how I battle against many unaddressed issues in my community. My art is my way of painting new possibilities, causing conversation and creating a resolve.

An Original Stage Play
June 17, 2022
This is a story of four brothers who reunite to come to terms with the death of their father and their relationship with each other. The truth, lies and contradictions all come to a head as they travel along in this modern timepiece. Along the way, the brothers poetically grapple with what it means to be black men in a society where there is no safe space for anger or weakness.

"It's an artist's duty to reflect the times in which we live."
Nina Simone
