Fact 3 is the celebration of African-American male hair! 16' x 20'
Celebrating black men, our hair and the talented barbers that keep us fresh. From my painting series, "Validity" this is "Barber Shop Stories.
I'm sure a lot of us can relate to growing up in the barber shop. I remember hearing about everything from sports and politics to hustlin' and ladies. The mis-education of some of those conversations shaped a lot of us. I remember seeing black and brown men from all walks of life doing life with each other...even if it was just while they were in the chair. It was an unspoken language how no one went to the "new" barber...how you were pisst when yours had to "take a lunch break"...and how you wanted to tell every hustle man, "brother I don't want know bootleg DVD's, oils or food platters" ..unless he caught you on pay day lol. All in all, it is our culture, it unifies us and it's part of who we are.
